HIT DICE CONVERTED TO HEALING SURGES

Instead of using the Hit Dice mechanism will be using Healing Surges.

Every character posses a maximum of 4 Healing Surges that he can spend on a Short Rest to heal himself. A character can spend as many Healing Surges as he has left during a Short Rest.

A Healing Surge heals a number of HP, known as Surge Value, equal to the character’s maximum HP divided by 4 and rounded-up.

A character regain spent Healing Surges during a Long Rest (see below).


LONG REST

After a Long Rest, you recover 2 Healing Surges that you can spend immediately to avoid exceeding your maximum.


DYING, DEATH PCs AND LEVELING-UP

When a character is Dying (making Death Saves) a character can try to stabilize him by doing a Wisdom (Medicine) check and using a Healer’s Kit grants advantage on the check. The DC depends on the number of failed Death Saves of the dying character: DC 10 for no failure, DC 15 for 1 failure and DC 20 for 2 failures.

Resurrection Magic

Raise Dead, Resurrection and True Resurrection aren’t on any class spell list.
If you really want your character to come back to life it’s up to your group to learn of such magic and usually undertake a quest to bring back your character. In the meantime you should stat-up a new character to join the party until your old character is back.

New Characters

When a character dies you must make a character with normal starting equipment. Your level depends on the highest party-member’s level:

  • 1-4: Start at level 1
  • 5-10: Start at level 3
  • 11-16: Start at level 4
  • 17+: Start at level 5
    Because of the way experience points work you will gain level quicker than the rest of the party and close the gap in no time.
    A character cannot gain more than one level per session
